Andrea Fortuna is pursuing a PhD in Bioengineering at the Human-Robot Interfaces and Interaction Laboratory (HRII) of Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia (IIT) and at the Electronic Information and Bioengineering Department of Politecnico di Milano. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in September 2019 and his Master’s Degree in Biomedical Engineering, BTE field, from Politecnico di Milano, in April 2022.  His research focuses on the development of care devices for people who need physical support to carry out daily activities (e.g. walking) due to impairment of mobility. The research is based on the detection of possibly traumatic events for the person (e.g loss of balance, falls, loss of senses, etc.) and on the development of an advanced human-robot interaction and collaboration device capable of providing the physical support needed to prevent these events from causing physical harm to the individual.
