Nicola Melchioni obtained his MSc in Physics at the University of Pisa in 2018. His thesis was carried out in Dr Frank Koppens' group at the Institute of Photonic Sciences (ICFO) and aimed to observe light-matter interaction at the nanoscale in Vander Waals heterostructures. He joined Professor Alessandro Tredicucci's group at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, where he studied the confinement effects of electrons and light in graphene devices with a lateral structure. Nicola joined the Vectorial Nano-imaging group led by Dr. Antonio Ambrosio in July 2023, working with optical and scanning probe microscopy to explore the properties of 2D materials.
